News For the Week of January 28, 2015

What nice weather we have been having, warm for winter and lots of sunshine. That is my kind of winter weather. Hope everyone is staying well enough to enjoy it some. The flu and a flu-like virus has been going around and seems like everyone in the area has had it. My four youngest grandchildren have been to the doctor with flu-like symptoms but are getting better after a round of tamiflu and breathing treatments. One of the older grandchildren had a round of strep and bronchitis but he is recovered and back playing ball.

I have missed getting the news in several different weeks and then can't remember it when I do get back to writing. Earlier in this month, Dillon Gross won the announcer's showcase at the IFR which stands for the International Finals Rodeo, and won a beautiful belt buckle. Dillon announces for rodeos and is also a first class auctioneer.

The boys basketball team came home with a first place trophy last Saturday after a week of games in the Mark Twain Conference Tournament. They played for first place against a very good S of O team. They played hard and showed good teamwork. The girls came home with a second place trophy from the same tournament and also played very well. The girls played a very tough Chadwick team. We had a good time watching them play and we are proud of each player. During the tournament, Alexis Landis scored her 1000th point. Earlier in this basketball season both Luke Clemans and Cole Thomas scored 1000 points at different ballgames.

This Friday night, January 30 will be Bradleyville's Homecoming. The games will start at 4:30 instead of the 5:00 time that shows on the schedule. There will be 4 full games against Hurley. On Monday, February 2 the girls will travel to Mansfield to play, and the next night, Tuesday, February 3 the boys will play Riverview at home. Both games will start at the regular time of 6:00 as far as I know. Then on Friday, February 6 both teams will travel to Everton and the starting time has been changed to 5:00 instead of the 5:30 time that shows on the schedule. Please check with the school if you plan to travel to any of these games because the starting times can change unexpectedly.
