News For the Week of October 8, 2014

I broke down and turned on the furnace a couple of mornings last week when the temperatures dipped down into the low forties at our house. I used the excuse that I wanted to warm the house up for the babies when they came down to visit, but the house was really chilly and I was cold too. Of course, by that afternoon we had the fans going and I think the AC came back on for awhile too. We are so spoiled. Kind of like Goldilocks, can't be too chilly, can't be too warm. I am thankful for our appliances that keep us “just right”.

My cousin, Johnny White and his wife Carolyn were here the past week visiting relatives. They live in Delhi, California and come back to Missouri to visit every few years. Johnny is my Aunt Alma's oldest child. It was so good to get to see them and visit with them. They and a group that included my sister Ginger, my Aunt Betty Swadley and cousin, Judy Whitaker went to the Dixie Stampede Saturday night and they enjoyed it immensely. Judy invited all the family to her home on Sunday afternoon to visit with Johnny and Carolyn before they went home on Monday morning. Those that came had a great time visiting and eating. Garrett got to ride a horse with cousin Riley and he thought that was great fun.

There will be a dedication service at Bradleyville General Baptist Church on Sunday night, October 12 for Greyson Clemans. This is Jack and Stacey Cleman's little boy. All are welcome to attend.

The Bradleyville Nazarene Church had their annual hayride and dinner up on the mountain at the Caney picnic grounds last Sunday. From the pictures I saw it looked like everyone had a wonderful time.

The next volleyball game will be at home at Bradleyville with Everton on Thursday, October 9, then on the next Tuesday night, October 14 the game will be at Chadwick. That is the last scheduled game this year before the team goes to districts.

The Jr. High girls team will be playing in a tournament at Thornfield this week, October 6-10 and then the boys and girls both will play Plainview at home on Monday, October 13 with another game at home playing against Lutie on Thursday, October 16.

Anniversaries for the coming week include: October 12: Joe and Kim Norwine; October 14: Jerry and Nardena Brown, Thurman and Kay Whittaker.
