News For the Week of December 7, 2011

The white dog with large, light brown spots on his hind quarters that I mentioned last week that was on DD Highway has migrated northeast a mile or so and is now at Julie and Scott’s house. He just showed up there one morning last week and growled a little at Bob and Scott but was very friendly to Julie and me. He acts scared and has to be talked into letting us pet him. On closer inspection he is a big, just grown pup, weighs around 45-50 pounds and has a blue collar on. He is pretty smart and when Julie told him to “sit” he obeyed. I sure hope somebody has lost him and wants him back and not dumped him out to fend for himself. You can call me at 796-2651 if he is your dog or just come and get him.
Hercules Church will be having their Christmas program on Sunday night, Dec. 11 starting at 6 p.m. Everybody is welcome. They will not have their regular monthly singing which is usually on the second Saturday night, but will probably resume in January.
New Mansion Church will also have their Christmas program on Sunday night, Dec. 11 starting at 7p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Earl Henson who passed away last week. Marilyn McDaniel was one of his children and I always liked reading the news about her parents and their farm when she wrote the Taneyville news. I knew Earl and he reminded me of my Grandpa Richardson, he had a heart of gold, and always had a good story or two.
Just a reminder that the Bradleyville School Fall Concert will be on Thursday night, Dec. 8, starting at 7p.m.
Congratulations to the Bradleyville Screaming Eagles Band on winning first place in their division in the Forsyth Christmas Parade. I had two grandchildren marching in the parade but went to Marionville to watch another grandson play basketball. Our family is like most and splits up when we need to be in two or three different places at once.
Basketball will continue for both the boys and girls at Bakersfield on Friday, Dec. 9. On Tuesday, Dec. 13 the boys will have a game at home with Seymour and then both girls and boys again will travel to Sparta for a game on Thursday, Dec. 15.
Birthdays: Dec. 8: Mike Howie, Tracy Jasper; Dec. 9: Sara Blair, Tom Burkhart, Bill Box; Dec. 10: Hannah Blair, Donna Horner, James Taber; Dec. 11: Buddy Albright, Jeannie Cummings, Tonya Friend, Tammy Spicer; Dec. 12: Dusty Gross, Bill Matthews, Nikki Newman, Chad Yeary; Dec. 13: Racheal Case, Joe McCleary; Dec. 14: Sandy Copas, Sue Guerin, Laura Melton, Hannah Swift.
Anniversaries: Dec. 9: Randy and Connie Haes; Dec. 10: George and Doris Lambeth; Dec. 12: Jack and Peggy Essary.
